Dr. Eric Silvers of Advanced Foot and Ankle Center (formerly McKinney Foot and Ankle Center) has been in private practice since 1997. A native of Rolling Meadows, Illinois, Dr. Silvers has always had an interest in medicine. After graduating from Rolling Meadows High School, Dr. Silvers attended Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana where he majored in Biology and Chemistry. "I found the curriculum at Valpo very demanding an rigorous, but with hard work and a lot of time in the Library studying, I earned early acceptance to Medical School," states Dr. Silvers.
After completing his prerequisites at VU, Dr. Silvers matriculated onto the Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois where he graduated with Cum Laude Honors. He was also awarded the Earl Kaplan Award for Clinical and Academic Excellence as well as the EFN Scholarship.
Upon graduation from Medical School, Dr. Silvers completed a foot and ankle surgical residency in Southern California. He was involved with the Baja Project for Crippled Children. During 1-2 weekends a month, Dr. Silvers along with other Southern California Residents and Attending Surgeons, care was given to children in Baja, Mexico. "The experience that I acquired in Mexico with the children was priceless. I looked forward to my weekend to help the kids with advanced foot and ankle pathologies," states Dr. Silvers.
Upon completion of his surgical training, Dr. Silvers was recruited to Durant, Oklahoma where he practiced with the University Medical Group and was on staff at Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma.
Dr. Silvers ventured out on his own to open Advanced Foot and Ankle Center in 1998. He now has two office locations, one in McKinney (main location) and a satellite office in Prosper, Texas.
Dr. Silvers is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, Immediate Past President of the Dallas County Podiatric Medical Society, a Medical Reviewer for the Texas State Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners and one of only a few DPM's to be named a Fellow of the American Academy of Podiatric Practice Management.
In July of 2009 Dr. Kory Williams will be joining Dr. Silvers at Advanced Foot and Ankle Center. Dr. Williams is completing his foot and ankle residency at Oklahoma Surgical Hospital, one of the nations most respected foot and ankle surgical residency programs.
